Hello Ms. Fortier,
I am rereading "Juliet" because I love the history and story behind Sienna! I am of Scottish and Italian decent and I am tracing my Italian heritage. It is ironic that my great grandfather came from Comune L'Aquila (my great grandmother came from Tivoli). I was curious to know whether or not the characters in the movie will have the same descriptions as your characters in the book?

Thank you for writing a fantastic book and I am looking forward to reading your new book.

I was 13 when I first read Juliet and still today it remains as one of my favorites. Truly a fantastic novel; blending so beauifuly of the Romeo and Juliet with a mondern twist that acts as if it was apart of the oridgnal all along. Becasue of this book and the plot and has inspired me to write a novel of my own. I'm so excited to see another book in the wroks and as soon as it's out I will be one of the first to read it! Thank you for the wonderful read.

Myhusband and I both read Juliet and agreed that it is a masterpiece which we both would like to read again, something we rarely do. We are so happy to know that there is another book in the works and cannot wait to read it. We both enjoy history and wish that you would perhaps suggest further reading for us.
Thank you for an absolutely fascinating sory and the history surrounding it.

I happened upon this book by chance looking through shelves at the library. I absolutely LOVED it!!

I have been frantically searching the internet for information about a movie. I see that in 2009 Universal Pictures bought the rights to Juliet, any word on when the movie will go into production? I kept picturing a movie in my head through out the entire book. I could see a modern day action/romance and also a "Pillars of the Earth" look for the past. Please keep us posted if any movie news comes up.

Thank you for the outstanding book, it was very hard to put down!

Just finished reading Juliet for the second time. I absolutely love the story. I have about 15 new books that I could/should be reading but Juliet called to me. I love the two stories that meld into one. The characters, scenery and descriptions are incredible. In fact, I think I'm going to start reading the book again right now, I'm having withdrawals all ready. Those other books will have to wait I'm headed back to Siena! Thank you Anne for this amazing story!

Hi Anne,
I just wanted to say thank you for this marvellous book. It was the first book in a long time that I just zoomed through; I read the entire thing on an 8 hour flight. It was fantastic! Thank you so much!

What a marvelous book, I cried, laughed and hoped every minute that Romeo and Juliet would not end with the same faith as in Shakespeare's tale . I couldn't stop reading it! Hopefully the author will be back in Washington, D.C., for another signing since I missed this last one. Thank you Anne Fortier.

After days of not being able to put down 'Juliet', I was so relieved to see that Giulietta got her 'happily ever after' with her Romeo. You have written a beautiful and fascinating story that had me in tears (I always judge a book by the extent to which it makes me want to cry). For those Shakespearean lovers, like me, who adore European history, this book is a treasure. Well done on an amazing (and incredibly creative) piece of writing. I look forward to reading more of your work in the future.

Just finished reading your book, "Juliet". What a wonderful story. I had a very hard time putting the book down. I was completely taken in by the story. Every time something happened, I found myself saying, "Oh my God!" One of the best novels that I have read in very long time. I can't wait for your next book!! Thank you for writing "Juliet"!

I have never posted a review before, for anything, let alone felt the need to contact an author after reading their book, and I consider myself an avid reader. However, I had to let you know how wonderful and fantastic Juliet is. The book itself captured my attention while on a shelf in Target, the pages and the rose I felt drawn to it. I wasn't even shopping for myself, my husband in Afganistan requested some books to read, but like I said I felt drawn. I began reading on a Sunday night and read until the words begun to be out of focus and then found myself awake before my alarm had a chance to wake me in the darkness of the morning. I picked Juliet up with such anticipation to be back in Siena once again. It wasn't long before I decided that I was going to get the kids off to school and call in sick to work. I couldn't stand the thought of not being with Guiletta as she unfolded the past. As I read my heart would race and I swear I could hear the accents spoken and see the colors and the streets of Siena as if I were watching a movie. You wrote beautifully and brilliantly! I had the most wonderful day with no distrations as I turned page after page. You took me to another place, another world with your words I didnt want it to end. Please know that hours after I had finished the book as Im writing this to you now I still feel raw from the emotion that I felt as the layers were peeled away and relationships unfolded between Janice, Guiletta, Allesandro , and Umberto. They as are you magnifico!

i, I recently turned 15 years old and I love your book! I've been waiting for this book for about a month. I saw it in a Borders email and I was drawn by the title and rose. I love roses and the play Romeo & Juliet. I read the play in English last school year and I was intrigued by the work. I felt like I need more Romeo & Juliet and I was determined to read your book when I found out about it and get it from the library, but that didn't happen. I got it for my birthday since my dad took me anywhere I told him to and I told him to go to the bookstore. There my sister took some books and I looked for Juliet. I found it among other books that I also wanted to read. I had to choose one book so I got yours. I was resisting the urge to read it since I still haven't finished Pride & Prejudice but I gave up and started reading it. I had to put off finishing Pride & Prejudice. I didn't want to do my homework, just read Juliet, but I did it any way. On the weekend I stayed up reading it. I kept opening my book in Science, World History (learning about the Renaissance in Italy) , Spanish, and Algebra 2, especially in the latter since part of me was hidden behind the teacher's computer hardrive. I read it while having breakfast. The book was my consuming interest because I love adventure, mystery, romance, and history. I learned that there was more than one other version of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. I pictured what happened in my mind and I was disappointed when I was getting to the end because then it would be over, but I loved the ending. Not only is there Romeo and Juliet and Mariotto and Giannozza, there is also Romeo and Giulietta.

Wow, I'm only halfway through your book and I do not want to put it down (except obviously, to tell you how much I don't want to put it down). I think it's original, funny, romantic, and well written. And let's be honest, half the books written these days have prose written like the back of a Mcdonalds menu. Keep up the good work!

As I was recovering from surgery, I had this book to read, and I have to say, it was brilliant! I couldn't put it down! I'm looking forward to getting the next book, and I hope this would be soon.

Dear Anne, I heard your interview with Bob Edwards. I was riveted. It was one of the most compelling "driveway moments" I've ever experienced. You are an inspiring person. Unfortunately, I have found nothing in your site about book touring in New England. Will you be speaking there (up here) anytime in the future? Thanks. Sincerely, Frédéric Work

I am currently writing a paper about the novel Juliet. In the authors note it mentions things which were historically accurate and things which were embellished. I am having a hard time finding information on the factual information and I was wondering where the information for Juliet was found.

Dear Ms. Fortier:
I am 3/4 into your book and I cannot put it down. What a fresh and interesting take on both a well loved pair of characters and a story that still endures many years later. I picked up your book on a whim and I do not regret paying for a hardcover that is well worth every penny. I wish you continue

First off let me first congratulate you on such a fantastic book! I am a bookseller at Barnes & Noble in Louisville, Kentucky and I was very fortunate to come across your book as an ARC. I must say that you are by far my favorite adult novel of the year and only come in as a close second to my other favorite author Paullina Simons. Anyway I have ranked your book as being up there with Dan Brown and have find it extremely fascinating and intriguing. It completely made me want to travel to Italy and see the places that were described in your book. I couldn't put it down and have recommended it to many of my customers as the must read of the year. I hope that it has brought you much success and that you continue to grace us with you writing in the future!!

WOW!! This book just grabbed me. I am a constant reader, one book after the other. JULIET gave me pause. I found myself think about Giulietta when I wasn't reading, wondering how her story would end. It ended perfectly...her very own Romeo {Alessandro} Thanks for the hours of bliss! Can't wait for #2.

As a reader it is hard to find books that meet your intrest. Trust me I've read them all. From Aristotle to Zola and back again. At 14 I've read some pretty amazing books. But when I read Juliet I was taken by surprise. I must say (and this is no exsageration) it is the best book I have ever had the privilage of reading. Thank you for sharing work works.

I plowed through it on my Kindle! I'd say it was a "page turner," but I don't have actual pages to turn! It was clever, incredibly well researched and really kept me guessing. Excellent job! Can't wait to see what's next for you (I don't supposed you'd consider a small novella from Alessandro's point of view...)
